What started as a simple idea in my journalism class is now well on its way to fruition.
Studying journalism has taught me so much about the field, especially the disparities that exist between male and female journalists. White straight males dominate the industry, with very little opportunity given to women, especially women of color.
I started brainstorming ideas to see if there was anything I could do to help level out the playing field for women in journalism. While there are a number of magazines geared toward women, I didn’t feel there was a true platform where women from all walks of life could be celebrated for their accomplishments, no matter how many or how miniscule.
Enter my brainchild, Here She Comms; a communique designated for extraordinarily ordinary women.
My vision for this site is similar to Buzzfeed, but designed for the female audience. Everything will be written by women, for women, no matter your race, religion, sexual orientation, or creed. If you are a woman, you belong here.
Each month will have a theme and news stories related to that theme will be curated from across the globe.
So sit back, relax and get ready to read some exciting news about the many amazing things women have done in the world!
